HOLIDAYS REPORT, Kigali
December the 4th, 2013
This is a short review about TUBASANGE activities in these long holydays which started on 25 October and will take end in the beginning of January 2014, means we have more than 2mouths in these holidays
At the beginning we have evaluated school reports of all children and we have realized that children school result have increased as you will see it in the excel file that I had also uploaded, but we steal have much thing to do in order to increase there max and knowledge up to a maximum point, as I said the average max of the juniors is over 50%; 95 % of them are admitted to the next class this year and you will see that many of them have the maximum max and there is a few number of the them who have a very minimum max and they are the one how hand reduce the average of the others. Many of those who have less max are the one who don’t attend our junior after school class because of there different family problems. About the senior student the average max is over 56% and as you will see many of the are not yet brought their school report because of different reason like those who had done the national examination have not yet got their max, for them I’m sure that their average will be over 60% 98,5% are admitted to the next class when I will receive all their school result . Besides that we have also planned together holydays activities here in center:
As you will see it in the below tables you will see that one Monday we meet with the junior during two hours from 2 PM up to 4 PM; during that time the first hour we use to discuss with them about different topics like giving them some advices about every day life related to their age; the second hour they some games, we show the different kind of movies and so on. On Wednesday It is also the same schedule but once in two weeks we organize for them a sport program at Maison de Jeune Kimisagara.
The senior schedule is organized like this: we meet with them two times during week days Tuesday and Thursday and also on Saturday. On Tuesday we have the English class which take place during three hours from 2:30’PM up to 5:30PM during this time we teach them English as we always do with the ones who study in the daily schools but some times we use to repeat what we had studied with those who study in the daily schools because the ones who study in the boarding schools had also joined the class. On Thursday we have rehearsals of different things like (traditional dance, modern dance, theaters, songs and music instruments like guitar and so on.); on Wednesday we do together the sport, some times at Maison de Jeune and other times we do it at our center as gym tonic.
About Saturday meeting, we share various ideas and advices related to different topics and nowadays we have added things like giving a topic to one or two children that they will present and explain to others and then give time for questions and comments from audience. the next topic will be for ALEX and AMINI who will teach as about HOW TO AVOID SHYNESS AND HOW TO INCREASE OUR SOCIABILITY. We have chosen this topic because we have realized that among us we have some children who are too shy and who are not interested to talk with others, so we found this practice as a way to help each other in different fields. ALEX and AMINI are good in that topic, reason why are chosen to help others and we will call other children for their help where they are best more than others
We are also preparing an ending year party in which we will present these practices done on Thursday in that party, we will also play a game called “cacaete” ,where everyone will take on hazard one person to give him or her a small gift.
Another event that we use to prepare at the end of the year is the trip with all children outside Kigali, but we had thought that it could be better if we can use this event as a kind of motivation for all children who will end each level of his studies. So in order to go with all children we should start with only those who finish primary six, the ordinal level and the advated level. This will not only help us as a motivation way but also it will help us economically.
Moringa health restaurant activity report
In fact our new business project has started on 15th August 2013, we have started with 14 workers but some of them have stopped to work because different reasons like going away in the other job and studies.
At the moment we are in the middle of the fourth months that we are doing our business, it wasn’t an easy experience to learn as it was the first business activity and also done by young adults towards creativity and empowerment.
We would like to focus on three main subjects in this repot such as human resource management, income position and future plan of our business.
As I told you we are 12 workers in restaurant and when we planned business we thought about the number of workers that it will be a challenge because the aim of business was to promote the share’s finished students who have not job and other occupation. Truly the number of workers is bigger than the work that must be done and the business capability but as we work as one people we thought that we can fight for that prevision challenge.
According to that we have meet with some difficulties among the workers where in each department they didn’t have experience because it was their first time that they do this kind of the especially restaurant, we learnt a lot when we started, we meet with some new experience that we never thought that we could meet such as how to welcome customers, how to prepare different foods and drinks even if had some experience from share activities especially Saturday canteen but we learnt how to make profit in different fresh food sold to the customers.
Because we are too many in the works we divided into two shifting groups in order to work in a good condition where first group works form 06:00 AM up to 03:00 PM and the other group work from 15:00 up to 10:00 PM.
In every organization there must be job conditions and punishment for those who don’t follow the condition of works, in this manner we sat together as all workers and Urumuri staff so we discussed and plan the job condition and punishment to those who won’t follow these rules and this have had a good impact to them and motivate them. Till now the restaurant income has sold less than we had preview that’s why we still use every aspect like asking advices to those who have much experience than us that could help us to improve, see what we could change in our every day work condition and so on.
